The 1 month observership training program will mainly consists of learning various techniques on pulmonary rehabilitation in different patients groups(COPD, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disease) as well as observing the treatment sequence of neuromuscular in-patients. Invited doctors will also get a change to observe the out-patient clinic and learn about the long-term follow up management of neuromuscular disease patients. (under the condition of providing partial financial support during the 1 month stay in Korea)
The contents of our educational program are based on the principles and knowledge of pulmonary rehabilitation chapter from the textbook by Delisa (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation principles and practice). We cover almost all of the procedures listed on the chapter, and the visiting doctor can experience each procedure as well as asking relevant questions on sight. The major interventions employed in pulmonary rehabilitations are as follows.
Ⅰ. Proper Patient Evaluation
Ⅱ. Therapeutic Interventions
1. Breathing retraining exercise
2. Airway secretion elimination methods
3. (Huffing, chest percussion & vibration, autogenic drainage, PEP breathing, flutter breathing, mechanical vibration & oscillation, mechanical In-Exsufflator, Percussionator)
4. Inspiratory muscle resistive exercises
5. Reconditioning exercises
6. Invasive mechanical ventilation
7. Non-invasive mechanical ventilation
In regard of the observership training program, we made a brief timetable below. Basically, 1 month program will be made up of a repetition of the weekly schedule. (The program includes learning various techniques on pulmonary rehabilitation in different patients groups (mainly neuromuscular disease, spinal cord injury, COPD) as well as observing the treatment sequence of neuromuscular in-patients. Experience of observing the out-patient clinic will let them learn about the long-term follow up management of neuromuscular disease patients.)
